Have you ever thought about how much waste is being thrown into a landfill each year? A lot!

How does 220 million tons, just in the US, a year sound? This averages that people throw away about 4.3 pounds of waste per day. Kind of scary right? Especially since that is 1.6 pounds more than the waste of the average person in 1960. (Source) These numbers make me want to change the way I live and help others reduce waste as well.
I started thinking about ways to eliminate waste at home by buying some things in bulk when possible. All the individual packages may be convenient but then I think of the cost to make them and then they are just thrown away. Hopefully they will be recycled but that's not always the case and there is still the costs associated and waste produced to make new packaging.

I can also make my own pureed food to fill them with, which saves me a ton of money and peace of mind as far as what my kids are really eating. The pre filled ones normally go for $1 or more each.
The way I see it is every small change now adds up over time!
